This 8 inch copper honeybee is formed and welded. the antenna and legs are silver soldered. The wings and honey are cast polyester resin. The bee is attached to the honeycomb by a stainless threaded rod so it can be removed. The sculpture is designed to hang directly against a wall or with a small gap between the wall and the honeycomb, allowing light to shine through the resin.

My primary focus for the past ten years has been metalworking. I am attracted to the permanence of the material and challenged by its seemingly unyielding nature. Much of my work is an exploration of the malleability of metal. I especially enjoy the processes of sheet forming and repousse. As a craftsman my intention is to master material and technique. I have great admiration for tireless detail and the disciplined process of developing exceptional skill. As an artist I hope to take a closer look at a world that is much bigger than me, to connect with, and be thankful for a complex universe.
